Chuck Close: Process and Collaboration web site has been developed through a partnership between the Blaffer Gallery and graduate students in the Instructional Technology program in the University of Houston College of Education.

The strength of the partnership is its educational focus, in which art education students will learn to integrate innovative technologies into their course of study while instructional technology students will learn how technology resources can and should be designed to complement real-world projects. Knowing that the research conducted and the educational materials developed will be utilized by both local area arts organizations and teachers, as well as web visitors from around the world, creates a level of motivation that is unmatched by traditional group projects or normal class assignments.

It is hoped that this undertaking will serve as a model for creating important art and technology partnerships which can be worthwhile for museum educators who are learning to harness the power of the web, for students who are learning to create real-world technology projects while working with actual clients, and for faculty who are learning to transform their courses into exciting new learning environments that are challenging and educationally meaningful.
